Another feature that's a big plus is the programmable sleep mode that switches to standby after an hour of inactivity. It's also easy to clean and requires a minimal amount of water. If you want to keep your energy costs low, consider opting for an appliance that has an able capsule holder that can be removed to make emptying easier.
You can also include a milk frother in your coffee pod (unless one is already included in the model you buy). Other things to look into include a reusable filter for use with capsules that are reusable, a water kettle or thermometer to ensure precise temperature control and the travel mug.

The reason we didn't award it the top spot is due to its lack of milk-frothing capabilities. the only option available is to use dried skimmed milk capsules, which don't taste quite as good as fresh-squeezed milk. If it had a built-in milk maker then we'd be inclined to consider this pod machine to be the top spot.
